United States Medical Institute Inc. (“USMI”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy and protects the personal data you entrust to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have regarding it.

It applies to our website (www.unitedstatesmedicalinstitute.com), online and in-person enrollment forms, the virtual class platform, our communications via email, phone, and WhatsApp, and the classes and labs taught at our headquarters at 396 W. Greens Rd, 7th floor, suite 786, Houston, TX 77060.

By using our services or enrolling in a program, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not provide your personal data.

2. Information We Collect


We collect only the information necessary to admit you to a program, deliver the training, issue certificates, and comply with applicable educational regulations.

3. How We Use the Information

  • Admission and enrollment: to evaluate your application, verify entry requirements and formalize your enrollment.
  • Delivering training: to give you access to the virtual platform, record attendance and grades, coordinate in-person labs, and issue records and certificates of completion.
  • National certification: to register you with the corresponding certifying agency (AMCA, NPCE, MEDCA or PTCB) and manage your exam.
  • Payments and administration: to process tuition, fees, payment plans, refunds, and billing.
  • Communication: to answer your inquiries, send notices about schedules, program changes, payment reminders, and results.
  • Promotional information: to send you information about new programs, workshops, and promotions, only if you authorize it; you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Legal and regulatory compliance: to retain academic and financial records required by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and other authorities, and to respond to legal requirements.
  • Security and service improvement: to protect our systems, prevent fraud, and analyze website usage to improve it.

We do not sell your personal data, nor do we use it to make automated decisions that produce legal effects concerning you.

4. Who We Share the Information With


We share personal data only when necessary to provide the service or comply with the law, and always limited to what is strictly required.

Our website and virtual platform use cookies and similar technologies to function properly, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used.

  • Necessary cookies: allow you to log in, keep your session active, and complete forms and enrollments. They cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: tell us which pages are visited and from where, to improve content. They are used in aggregate form.
  • Advertising cookies: if we activate campaigns on social networks or search engines, their pixels can record your visit to show you USMI ads. They are only activated with your consent.

You can manage or delete cookies from your browser settings. Disabling necessary cookies may prevent the use of the class platform.

6. Data Security and Retention


We protect your information with reasonable technical and administrative measures: restricted access to staff who need it, passwords and authentication on the virtual platform, encryption in website transmissions (HTTPS), locked physical filing for paper records, and staff training on confidentiality.

No system is completely foolproof. If a security incident occurs affecting your data, we will notify you in accordance with Texas law and take necessary corrective measures.

7. User Rights and Choices


You may exercise the following rights regarding your personal data, to the extent permitted by applicable law, including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act:

  • Access: know what data of yours we hold and obtain a copy.
  • Correction: ask us to rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: request that we delete your data, except for what we must keep due to legal or regulatory obligations (for example, your academic record).
  • Portability: receive your data in a commonly used format.
  • Objection to marketing: stop receiving promotional communications using the unsubscribe link in each email or by writing to us.
  • Withdrawal of consent: when the processing is based on your authorization (for example, use of practice images).

To exercise any of these rights, write to compliance@unitedstatesmedicalinstitute.com indicating your full name, the program in which you are or were enrolled, and the specific request. We will respond within a maximum of 45 days, after verifying your identity. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

If you believe we did not handle your request appropriately, you can appeal by writing to the same email with the subject “Privacy Appeal”, or file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General.

8. Minors


Our programs are intended for persons 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors under 13. If we admit a student between 16 and 17 years old, we require written consent from their parent or legal guardian before collecting any data. If we detect that we have received data from a minor without such consent, we will delete it immediately.

9. Third-Party Links and Changes to this Policy


Our site may contain links to sites of certifying agencies, payment providers, social networks or other third parties. Each has its own privacy policy and USMI is not responsible for their practices. We recommend reading them before sharing information.

We may update this policy when our services or applicable law change. We will post the current version on www.unitedstatesmedicalinstitute.com with the date of the last update. If the change is significant, we will notify active students by email. Continued use of our services after publication implies acceptance of the new version.

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the United States of America. In case of discrepancy between the Spanish version and the English version, the English version shall prevail.
